fotd: shine bright like a diamond

Awkward smile o_O

Ahhh, don't you just love annual leave days? Being cooped up in one room and stuck to one chair for 10 hours at a time really makes your appreciate days off more. Today, I went off to the cinema! I'm enjoying this Cineworld Unlimited card malarky already!

I made a bit more effort with my makeup today and broke out my UD Naked palette. I'm working on a little photography project with my brother later tonight so I wanted to look slightly more human than usual.

Surprisingly, I've really loved using Rimmel's Match Perfection foundation. I'm absolutely terrible at colour matching my skin to drugstore foundation but I've finally made the right choice! Success! (Review on this will be on soon!)

Do you like to jam pack your days off or do you prefer to chill out at home?

FOTD: everything has changed

Wednesday, 31 October 2012

The days feel like they're getting shorter and I find myself cherishing every minute of sleep that I can get. My make-up lately has been something quite bog standard and really encapsulates the phrase 'lazy girl's make-up'. I literally wear this every day that I'm at work or out and about.

My Garnier roll-on is no longer doing the job for my dark circles so I just look ghoulish at work and end up getting the 'oh, you look tired' comments thrown at me. That's just a nicer way of saying you look rubbish isn't it? Any recommendations for a great under eye concealer?

P.S...HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I shall be doing my traditional pumpkin carving in my fairy wings and trying to avoid answering the door to hyperactive kids!

FOTD: Sparkle & Fade

Monday, 3 September 2012

I'm on a roll with these 'Face of the Day' posts huh?

I went for some lunch on Sunday because my friend was flying back down to London on Monday so it was great to have a girly catch up and gossip! I'm starting to get a niggling feeling that my make-up is very 'samey'. My collection isn't very vast as I try and use up as much as I can before purchasing more. I'm very good like that!

MAC's Naked Lunch and Satin Taupe is my favourite eyeshadow combinations ever! And I've so almost hit pan on Satin Taupe, a few more uses I think and I should see the silver pan!

What your favourite eyeshadow combination?

FOTD: Lunch Date

Friday, 17 August 2012

I need to acknowledge two things before I properly start this post.
1. I have NO idea why my photos have turned out such bad quality. I can't even re-shoot because I've taken all my make-up off! Disaster!
2. I didn't actually go on a date, I just had some lunch with friends. Pizza Express is yum in my tum!

Now that's out of the way!

It's been absolutely horrendous weather here in Scotland and makes me want to dig my Uggs out of the depths of my Winter footwear cupboard and start thinking about Christmas! My mood is suddenly changing to match the weather and everyone's driving gets 10 times worse (cue road rage!).

This is what I call 'rainy day makeup'. I used the two matte shades from my UD Naked palette and used a warmer toned blush and off I go. I pretty much keep everything the same but change up my foundation as the weather adjusts. I'm slowly starting to use all my makeup up and although I don't have a vast collection, I'm quite thrifty when it comes to cosmetics as it can expire.

Do you have 'rainy day' makeup? Are you good at using up all your makeup before splurging on more?

FOTD: Teardrops on my Guitar

Tuesday, 7 August 2012

Oh hai Pikachu in the background!
I've been running about today doing some errands AND it's been raining off and on all day, basically typical Scottish summer weather! I attempted a very minimalistic make-up look and narrowed it down to 5 products! I think I did pretty well!

I've really been enjoying using my BB cream lately as my skin has been breaking out like crazy. I'd rather even out my skin tone than slapping on a layer of foundation to cover my sins! With a quick lick of mascara, I'm ready to go!

The concept of only using 5 products has been challenging and interesting, but I've really enjoyed doing it as it also gives me the chance to rotate make-up products and discover old favourites!

Have you tried reducing the amount of make-up products you use?

FOTD: Cinema Night

Wednesday, 25 July 2012

I really don't know how you gals manage to take photos for FOTD posts! I really struggled, so this is my best offering! But I promise that I will improve for next time! But anyway, let's get going!

I went to the cinema last night to see The Dark Knight Rises (my inner geek was so giddy!) and I decided to take inspiration for my make-up from Zooey Deschanel. I love Zooey Deschanel and her style but her make-up is always so simple and incorporates that oh so famous winged eyeliner with her doll-like eyes (cue beads of nervous sweat as I applied my eyeliner!).

Strangely enough, one of my eyelids is more mono-lid than the other so I always look lopsided when I apply eyeliner and I tried my oh so hardest to make them even! Luckily enough, I was going to be in a very dark room with my glasses on so this was really more for my benefit!

I really didn't go crazy with the make-up products but I hope I managed to capture even a little bit of Zooey Deschanel's infamous look!

What do you think? How do you fare with gel eyeliner?
