a valentines wishlist

Friday, 8 February 2013

Oh Valentines Day. When this day comes around, I'm reminded of my social awkwardness and impending spinsterhood. This year I swore that I would start to think positively so I am! Imagine the money I'll be saving in gifts for the special someone but then again, what could I use the money to buy for myself instead.

  1. ASOS Scallop Front Tab Across Body Bag: Despite having just purchased a Cambridge Satchel, I couldn't help looking on ASOS and I spotted this cute little bag. It has that Mulberry look about it and very practical for day to day wear.
  2. Temporary Secretary Ninja Mystery Bag: One of my favourite bloggers, Sarah from Temporary Secretary, has one of the cutest online shops. Whilst surfing it the other day, I came across this Ninja goodie bag. It's a running joke with my friends that I'm known as the Ninja (a little to do with my cultural origin too!). But it's filled full of lovely jewellery and stationery. Me wants!
  3. Lavish Alice Deep Wine Velvet Skater Dress: I've been so attracted to the colour burgundy and anything deep wine coloured, plus...it's the colour of the season! The heart cut out on the back is really cute!
  4. Stila Convertible Colour for Lips and Cheeks: My blush obsession continues. It was ok when my city didn't have a Stila stand but now it's in my local Boots and I ALWAYS go over to it just to look at these blushes. I love how you can use them for lips and cheeks and their colour range is pretty good as well.
  5. Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette: *sigh* I promised myself that I wouldn't get pulled into the hype that was this palette but I've been finding myself wearing more matte neutral shades and this looks so practical. I like the compact nature of the palette and it's so much more travel friendly than both of its predecessors. I may or may not have added this onto my birthday wishlist (hint, I have).
So, single ladies...what's on your wishlist for the Valentines season? Or if you're coupled up, what are you doing on the special day?

weekly wishlist #4: a university essentials edition

Friday, 21 September 2012

My city is slowly starting to fill up with new Freshers and returning students so that only means one thing...a new semester! Alas, I am no longer a student (although I wish I was!) but I thought it would be a great idea if I compiled a wishlist of things that I would love to get to get ready for university!

I have always been a backpack girl. I don't think I've ever gone to school or university without a backpack. I love the look of these canvas bags because they're so casual although I don't think they'll last very long in typical Scottish weather! I live in trainers (I'm partial to Converse mainly!) because they're so easy to style and throw on when I'm in a rush. They are especially comfy when you're having to sit in a lecture theatre for ages! Keeping in the comfort theme, in my opinion, you cannot survive university without depending on a hoody or two. Great for cold library study sessions or running from building to building!

I always go crazy when buying stationery. Notebooks, pens, ringbinders and ruled paper! I'm pretty sure I've managed to keep WHSmith running for an entire year with my stationery buying habit! I've always lusted after a Moleskine notebook, there is always something grown up about owning such a classic notebook. Last but not least, is an umbrella. 'An umbrella'? I hear you say. Yes, especially if like me you had to depend on public transportation for a long time! You can thank me later!

If you're going off to university, whether as a Fresher or a returning student, I wish you all the best luck for the year!

What are your university essentials?

Weekly Wishlist #1

Monday, 13 August 2012

You can probably tell that I'm loving mint green at the moment. It took a lot of self-control to not flood this entire collage full of mint green goodness! But first off those boots, do they not just scream 'buy me!'? I would love to be able to pull off a really nice every day heel and these Topshop ones look brilliant. Price tag, not so much!

Marc Jacobs' fragrances always pull me in with 'Daisy' being my favourite by far. When they released this fragrance, I hot-footed it down to my local Boots to inhale it's amazing scent! Plus, how cute is the bottle? Definitely not handbag friendly, but would look amazing on your dresser! If you haven't smelt it, I would encourage you to do so.

Ever since Jennie from SailorJennie posted about this quilted mint green bag from Matalan, I have been lusting over it like crazy! I would like this in my life...now please.

I have been dabbling in the world of peplum tops recently and after purchasing the Topshop black peplum, I would like to add more into my wardrobe. They are so easy to wear and covers up my *cough* muffin top *cough* perfectly! This one from ASOS is on sale for only £17.50! Bargain! I just really hope it's still on the website by the time my first pay wage comes through next month!

A nice introduction to my 'weekly wishlist' series :)

What do you think? What have you been coveting recently?

£100 ASOS Challenge

Saturday, 7 July 2012

Dress | Shoes | Bag

I've seen the £100 ASOS Challenge making the rounds around the blogger-sphere so I thought that I'd participate. Even if I don't win, I managed to find a way to make these collage type posts! Yay!

I'm really into the whole cream/white colour this season (maybe it reminds me of weddings...I do love a good wedding me!) and this sequinned daisy dress emulates summer and all things girly to me! The floaty skirt is really flattering and brings out the old romantic in me! To go with the dress, I picked some nice nude pink heeled shoes, just to keep things a little simple. Not sure how long I'd last in them but I find that heeled shoes improve my posture drastically and makes me feel that little but more lady-like. Lastly, I chose this small tan weave bag just to complete the outfit. You can wear this across the body or just on the one shoulder to keep all your precious items in! The tan colour really goes well with the tone of the dress and the shoes without being too over-bearing. I prefer small bags like this as it can usually carry more things in it than a clutch, and who wants to hold on to something all night?

So that's my little simple outfit! Nothing too crazy but I think this is such an elegant outfit.

What do you think? Will you be doing this challenge?
