feather hair extension.

Thursday, 23 May 2013

Remember that feather hair extension trend about 3 years ago? Well I definitely bought into that but I quickly got fed up of it and pushed it to the back of my drawer. Last week I was clearing out some old bits and pieces and found it again so I popped it back in my hair and it hasn't left it since.

I bought this feather hair extension from Ahead of Hair a few years back and they have a wonderful selection of feather extensions in different colours and lengths. My one is the fushia one and you can buy a starter kit that comes with everything you need to pop that flash of colour in your hair.

In the starter kit, you get micro loops, pliers and a loop threader and that's all you need. I placed the extension behind my ear (or wherever you want, it's up to yourself where you want to place it) and used the micro loops and loop threader to gather a small piece of my hair. Once I like the positioning of the extension, I clamp the micro loop down with the pliers.

It's so easy and you can even wash your hair with it in and style it with heat tools. You can also take it in and out as often as you like and with good care, the feather can last for around 6 months. With me having such dark hair, it's so difficult to dye it with outrageous colours so this is such a great alternative to adding something a little different.

I'm already eyeing up some different colours as I want to bring this trend back! It came and went so quickly!

Did you have a feather extension in your hair when it was a huge trend?

A post about my hair. I know...I've officially lost it.

My hair has only ever been one thing. Unmanageable. It curls in places I don't want it to curl and my (non) fringe likes to separate from the rest of my hair making me look like a fool of a took! But recently I've been wearing my hair like this and I really love it.

I straighten my hair like usual and then I pull the front part of my (non) fringe to one side and start braiding. Then I clip it to one side either using kirby grips or my cute bow clip. I found this clip lurking around my savings jar (which is no longer a savings jar, but a 'put the things you have nowhere to put' jar). I think it looks simple and wearable whilst keeping that pesky fringe out of my face!

How do you keep your hair manageable?
