TAG: 7 Deadly Sins of Beauty

Monday, 30 April 2012

I LOVE reading these posts and watching this tag on YouTube so I thought I would give this a go on blog form.

1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive and expensive beauty product?
My most inexpensive would be No.7 lipgloss in Smile which I got for free! Can't get any more inexpensive than that! I don't use it as often as I should but it's the most inexpensive beauty product I own.

My most expensive beauty product is a toss-up between the Urban Decay Naked Palette or my MUFE HD Foundation. I still think the Naked Palette is well worth the money and the HD Foundation really is fantastic!

2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What has been the hardest to find?
I have a love/hate relationship with gel eyeliner! Sometimes it looks really nice on me and then my monolids/(one eyes bigger than the other issue) get in the way and I just look downright silly!

The MUA Heaven & Earth Palette has been most difficult to find. Although there are 2 Superdrugs in my city, neither of them stock the pro range so I gave in and had to order it online.

3. GLUTTONY: What is your most delicious beauty product?
It has to be Palmer's Dark Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter. Tastes like the Peppermint Hot Chocolate from Starbucks at Christmas time!

4. SLOTH: What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?
Definitely my eyebrows. Need to make more of an effort!

5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most confidence?
Foundation. Can always rely on a quick application of foundation to give me that extra boost I need!

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?
Humour. If a guy can make me smile or laugh then he is definitely worth my time.

7. ENVY: What item would you most like to receive as a gift?
Benefit's Hervana Blush. I'm currently on the lookout for a new blush and this looks so pretty! I love the fact that you can just swirl your brush in the product to get such a beautiful colour! May be worth an investment soon!

I tag everyone who reads this to do it! Link me to your post so I can read it as well!

Knowing me, knowing you...

Friday, 27 April 2012

Because this is a new blog of mine, I thought it would be nice for my readers (or whoever comes across this blog...) to get to know me a little bit better. So, I've basically compiled a small, 10 facts about me post for your reading pleasure.

1. I'm a law graduate
Yes siree! I graduated last year with an LLB in Scots Law. It's been a tough journey but I'd like to think I'm better off for it!

2. I bake
I have a little sideline venture where I just bake a lot and give away the results to willing test subjects :) I jest! I actually sometimes get commissioned to bake special occasion cakes from time to time which I actually really enjoy doing.

3. I'm a British Born Chinese
My family hail from Hong Kong but I was born and raised in good old Scotland!

4. I'm quite musical
I played violin in school and actually reached grade 4 before I started university. Now I play acoustic guitar which I semi-taught myself.

5. I love to travel
I studied abroad in the USA during my degree and LOVED it! I have a passion for travelling and would love to see a bit more of the world before I settle down to be a 'grown up'.

6. I've lost 3 stone since 2008
Weight is a subject that has played a huge part in my life. It may not seem much but I'm so much more confident now than I was back then. There's still a long way to go for me but by golly I shall get there!

7. I'm secretly a nerd
Pretty sad, I know but I'm embracing it!

8. I want to do everything!
I would love to just do everything! Painting, photography, music, academia, writing...you name it, I want to do it!

9. I have checkpoints in life
I often sit down and think about what I want to do with my life (must be the university graduate in me). I have checkpoints where when I reach that checkpoint, I take another review of where I want my life to head towards. Right now, it is to qualify as a Scottish solicitor. It's taking a lot of willpower and several knocks to my confidence but as Kelly Clarkson says: 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!'

10. 'Glass half-full'
I'd like to think of myself as an optimistic person, but at times like these where finding a job is hard and life is throwing you lemon trees, I tend to surround myself with people who brings out the 'glass half-full' person in me!

In hindsight, thinking 10 facts about me is quite the task, but I'd like to think I've represented myself pretty well!

What are 10 facts about yourself?

Revlon Lip Butters

Thursday, 26 April 2012

These Revlon Lip Butters have been circulating the blogosphere and YouTube world for a while now. Us in the UK have had to be very patient for them making their way across the pond to us. There are already so many reviews about these but I thought I would add my 2 cents in for all that they are worth.

The two shades I got were Peach Parfait and Sweet Tart. They have been described as:

-Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
-Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
-Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine

I'm not a very big lip product fan but surprisingly I really liked the texture of the lip butter. Yes, the colour pay-off is fantastic but I'm not really feeling the boosting of lip moisture. The packaging itself is slightly on the tacky side and I often have difficulty getting the lid off (maybe it's just me?) but I think the product itself should be the focal point.

Peach Parfait & Sweet Tart

My favourite by far is Sweet Tart. It has that 'flirty' pink look that can be easily worn during the day and at night. Peach Parfait is the lesser favourite. I wanted the shade because it was what Emma Stone was wearing in the promotional poster here. It's still a really pretty peach tone shade but it is so glittery!

Left: Peach Parfait Right: Sweet Tart

There are a few other shades that caught my eye, like Lollipop and Raspberry Pie but I think I will stick to these two before moving on to probably try the L'oreal Carese Lipsticks which have been dubbed as the alternative.

These retail for £7.99 and are available from Superdrug and Boots.

What do you think of the Revlon Lip Butters? Worth the hype?

I have arrived...

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

Hello!

I would like to formally introduce myself and welcome you to my blog! I'm not entirely new to the blogging experience but I would have liked to class them as the 'learning stages'.

I've basically had some ideas brewing in my head about setting up a blog on the internet that really encapsulates my personality and my thoughts. So, I present to you....'Thoughtful Sunday'!

My hopes and aspirations for this blog is just to get it up and running so hopefully there won't be too many technical glitches. But if you bear with me just now, we should resume normal broadcasting soon.
